Maldives Tourism Booms with 8,028 Record-Breaking Arrivals on February 11th
On February 11, 2023, the Maldives experienced the highest number of tourist arrivals in a day since the COVID-19 pandemic began, with a total of 8,028 arrivals.
This surpasses the previous record set on December 26, 2022, when 7,621 arrivals were recorded. Currently, the tourism industry in the Maldives has returned to its pre-pandemic levels, with 1.68 million tourists visiting in 2022, exceeding the government’s target of 1.6 million arrivals. The government is optimistic about the future and aims to welcome over 1.8 million tourists in 2023. As of last Wednesday, there were 220,574 arrivals, a 31.1% increase from the previous year.
