THE UNITED KINGDOM WAIVES CORONA VIRUS TESTING FOR VACCINATED TRAVELLERS!
The British government announced that it is eliminating coronavirus travel testing requirements for the vaccinated, securing the country’s position as one of the most free-flowing borders across Europe.
This shift, according to Transport Secretary Grant Shapps, will go into force on February 11 at 4 a.m., coinciding with a midterm holiday break for many students. He further stated that regardless of vaccination status, everyone travelling in England would be required to fill out a passenger location form, which will be made “easier” to complete.
Testing requirements are being waived for all vaccinated adults and children under the age of 18. Britain is also easing requirements for the unvaccinated, who will have to take coronavirus tests before and after visiting Britain but will no longer undergo quarantine.
Children aged 12-15 in England will be able to use a digital NHS COVID Pass to prove their vaccination status or proof of prior infection for outbound travel, making it easier for them and their families to travel to countries that require this to gain entry, avoid isolation, or access to venues or services.
The government of the United Kingdom established the England’s public health policies and even though the other areas of the United Kingdom — Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland — have their own health laws, they have stated that they will follow England’s requirements for overseas travel.
According to figures issued on January 19, 2022, the United Kingdom is the second largest market for Maldives tourism, accounting for 9.1 percent of the industry with over 7,500 visitors this year.
